Also, famed as ‘Visa Balaji’, this deity at Chilkur showers blessings on the devotees who for any reason are unable to go to Tirupati. As per the local legend, anyone desirous of seeking a wish fulfillment from Chilkur Balaji must first make 11 pradakshinas at the temple and after it’s granted, one must return to perform 108 pradakshinas as a way of expressing gratitude. It is also the only temple in India that does not accept any money from the devotees and does not have a hundi.
Approximately, 15,000 to 20,000 devotees visit the shrine during the week, but on Fridays and Saturdays, the temple gets close to 100,000 devotees. Many of whom come to pray to Balaji for visas to travel or move to the US and other Western countries.
